Welcome back – how will you energise your team for 2021
I hope you had a refreshing Christmas and new year break. I don’t know about you but it was such a busy year last year that it took me several days to wind down and clear my mind. It’s often not until you stop that you realize how busy you’ve been. At Global Integration we decided to declare a complete paid break from Christmas Eve until 4th January, whether people had vacation time left or not. Its only possible to stay productive over time if we ensure we also have time for renewal.
Many of us around the world are returning to further restrictions on mobility and more time working from home. Whilst vaccines do give us a light at the end of the tunnel, it still feels like a long winter ahead in the northern hemisphere.
It’s also time to kick off our teams and activities for 2021. We still need to get things done and to re-energize our teams. What will you be doing to get your team raring to go for this year? Hopefully things will be returning to something closer to normal by the summer but by then half of the year will be over.
Their thoughts are also turning to how they are going to organize hybrid teams to get the best out of periods of working from home interspersed with periods in the office.
Before COVID-19, Gallup found that people who worked a day or two a week in the office and the rest of the time from home were the most engaged of all groups of employees so this pattern of working can bring some real opportunities if we get it right.
But in order to work this way, teams will need to agree how to organize their work to take advantage of these possibilities.
