Site Notice: Change in RSS

RSS logo
Where you see this logo, there’s an RSS feed.

When we moved to this new site, a lot of great things happened. People started taking a little longer to look around, and we’d like to think that you can find things more easily. And we added an RSS feed* for readers’ convenience.

Thanks to a helpful reader, we noticed that there’s an intermittent problem. Subscribers to our chosen RSS service – Feedburner  – were getting blog posts days, sometimes even weeks, after the post was made.

To cure the problem, we have switched over all our RSS feeds and email feeds from the Feedburner service to this site’s own ‘internal feeds’. If you were already subscribed to our internal RSS feed, or subscribed to the weekly blog email roundup, you won’t need to do anything. However, if you’re one of subscribers using the Feedburner service, we recommend changing to one of the above. But don’t worry:  Feedburner feed is being kept live, so if it’s your favourite reader, it will continue to work for you.

We have been through the site and we think we’ve found all references to it and changed all the links as well  – but if you spot something that hasn’t been changed, we’d love you to let us know. (Actually, this applies to anything you find broken. Moving a website is a bit like moving house – something’s bound to get left on the pavement or fall from the back of the van!)

If getting all of our blogs  by RSS or having a weekly email roundup is too much, you can always subscribe to our newsletter. We’re changing the format very slightly over the coming months not only to give you what regular subscribers are used to – some great new content not available anywhere else –  but to make it more regular and include some useful links to the best of our new content across the month.

And with everything from videos and podcasts to competitions on the site, what’s not to love?

*Please note that the link we used offers a good explanation of RSS, but is fairly dated and mentions the Google Reader, which has been discontinued.
