Our consultant Phil Stockbridge will again be swapping the training room for a pair of trainers, this time to undertake the BUPA Great North Run 2013, which takes place in the North of England on September 15, 2013.
Over 50 thousand people will be running the picturesque 21km course (half marathon), which Phil describes as ‘relatively easy’.
His chosen charity is prostate cancer, which affects around 1 in 8 men in the UK at some point in their lives, and expected by 2030 to become the most common cancer. (According to Prostate Cancer UK, older men, men with a family history of prostate cancer and men of black African and black Caribbean descent are more at risk, and there is known to be a strong genetic link.)
Phil has pledged to raise £500 (just over USD $750) for his run and is – at time of writing – around 60% there. You can see his JustGiving page here - Phil Stockbridge Just Giving - and even donate to help him reach his target if you feel so inclined. (Just Giving is a fundraising platform that makes good use of social media to help people raise money for charities.)
We’d like to wish Phil Good Luck for both the race and for beating his fundraising target.
