It’s a question we’re often asked: what sets Global Integration trainers apart from the rest? Here, CEO Kevan Hall explains:
To train the ‘soft skills’ required by individuals who work within a matrix, virtual or global organization our trainers need to have lived and worked in at least one country outside their own at a management level. They need to have experience at facilitating training, and be able to speak at least two languages.
This may seem a lot to ask, but our training goes well beyond traditional cross cultural training, which is still important, of course, but it doesn’t address all of the issues faced by people working in multicultural groups.
We focus on the practical ‘how to’ of working across borders. It’s almost impossible, unless you’ve lived it, to really empathise completely with the competing pressures – and of course, pleasures – of working in global, matrixed or virtual teams.
To date we have trained people across 40 countries, in more than 300 organizations, many of which have worked with us for numerous years.
Much of this is doubtless because all of our consultants work for Global Integration as employees, rather than associates – with the exception of one team member, whose truly international lifestyle means he spends six months a year in Mauritius pursuing his own interests. This is completely unlike most other training organizations.
Because we specialists, and want to remain thought leaders in our field, we don’t believe you can do this if you only train a subject infrequently. Our specialists have a passion for, and in-depth understanding of, the subject matter, and are constantly evolving new intellectual property in our niche.
