Matrix Management Training & Consultancy
A formal matrix organization structure is where individuals may have more than one reporting line to separate bosses (solid line and/or dotted reporting lines).
Matrix working is where the needs of the work - the activity of business processes - cut across the traditional ‘vertical’ reporting lines of function and geography.
A matrix structure is a formal organisational choice. Matrix working, by contrast, is everywhere, driven by an increase in collaboration across distance, cultures, time zones and organisational boundaries . Sometimes called the network organisation, matrix working is a reality of work in large, modern organisations.

Help with Matrix Mangement
Global Integration’s consultants are specialists in the implementation of matrix management and matrix working. We assist clients in a number of ways:.
Support for OD (organisational development) and change processes
Global Integration’s consultants are not the people who draw the boxes on the organisation chart. But they ARE specialists in the implementation of matrix management, and in the skills and people management processes required for the matrix to be successful.
Global Integration works with organisational development specialists to consider the implications of their structural choices on how people work together, build skills and confidence and head off some of the common pitfalls and challenges.
The team has also worked on numerous communication projects helping clients craft their internal communications, and has created initial workshops to make sure that the matrix is well received and understood at an early stage.
Skill Building and Training – Matrix Management and Matrix working
Global Integration offers programs at all levels within organizations in how to manage yourself and others in complex, matrixed organizations.
Matrix Leadership
The role of senior matrix leaders is critical in the success or failure of a matrix organization. Right at the very top of organizations, the matrix structure may have relatively little impact, which can lead to senior leaders and managers underestimating the degree of difficulty their colleagues face in making the matrix organization structure work. Senior leaders have a critical role in creating clarity and setting the tone for the entire organization.

Matrix Teams
Building and managing teams in a matrix requires different skill sets and new approaches. In addition to the typical virtual team challenges, matrix teams may have the additional dynamics of members reporting to multiple bosses, with competing goals and demands on their time. As these cross functional and matrix teams become the norm in complex organisations, we need to make sure that our skills are adapted to this new environment.

Matrix Working - Personal Effectiveness in a Matrix Organization.
Individuals working within a matrix organization structure need different personal effectiveness skills to perform well. People at all levels within the matrix need to learn the skills to create role and objectives alignment, manage multiple bosses, work in matrix teams and understand how to overcome the daily dilemmas and challenges that matrix management can bring. A lack of these skills can lead to delay, cost and dissatisfaction.
