The UK’s aerospace sector is the second largest in the World, and the largest in Europe, manufacturing of sophisticated modern aircraft parts. Three thousand companies and 230 thousand employees contribute hugely to the UK economy.
The Aerospace Industry is expected to double in size over the next 10 years, and it’s vital that the sector remains competitive to retain that lead.
To quote Michael Fallon, the Minister of State for Business and Enterprise:
“The SiG programme underlines the importance of supporting advanced manufacturing and skilled jobs through the Regional Growth Fund. The multi-million pound initiative will protect or create over 5000 jobs and enable the UK Aerospace industry to be more competitive on the global stage. This reflects the Government’s commitment to the UK aerospace industry as part of our Industrial Strategy by boosting exports and developing our skills base for a stronger economy”
Sharing in Growth (SiG Uk Ltd) was established last year as an independent company to deliver a programme in excess of £110M of intensive supplier development to a range of UK aerospace suppliers with funding from a successful Regional Growth Fund application. The programme will run over four years, and each of the 40 companies selected to participate will benefit from approximately £1.2 million of training, diagnostics and strategy by industry specific experts with years of global expertise. It is, of course, not just being given away! Aerospace suppliers joining the programme have to match the funding with a commitment of their time only over the four years. It is those ambitious companies that want to grow from ‘good to great’ and then with board approval they will be the ones who will succeed in sharing in the growth of this expanding aerospace market.
Following a fiercely competitive bid to participate, Global Integration has been selected to deliver consultancy and training to the suppliers selected for participation in the programme. It will focus on the practical skills and tools to make their companies faster, less expensive to run and more satisfying to work in.
